Knowledge and Skills Statement
Inquiry and research: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking using multiple texts. The student engages in both short-term and sustained recursive inquiry processes for a variety of purposes.
Demonstrated Proficiency of ELA.2.13.A
Observe students during discussions and use a rubric to score responses. How well students generate questions about a topic and use those questions to guide their research is a skill that is best assessed when witnessed in an authentic way.
Sample rubric:
- The student is unable to ask or answer questions for informal or formal inquiry.
- The student is able to answer questions but has difficulty staying on topic or asking purposeful questions
- The student is able to answer questions and ask questions about a topic, but the questions do not align directly with the inquiry process.
- The student is able to answer questions and generate questions for informal and formal inquiry.
