Knowledge and Skills Statement
Multiple genres: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking using multiple texts--genres. The student recognizes and analyzes genre-specific characteristics, structures, and purposes within and across increasingly complex traditional, contemporary, classical, and diverse texts.
Demonstrated Proficiency of ELA.K.8.F
Use a checklist or anecdotal notes during small-group discussion, one-on-one conferences, or learning-center time to keep track of whether students recognize characteristics of multimodal and digital text.
An observational rubric can be used.
Sample rubric:
1) The student does not recognize characteristics of multimodal and digital texts even with adult assistance.
2) The student inconsistently recognizes characteristics of multimodal and digital texts with adult assistance.
3) The student consistently recognizes characteristics of multimodal and digital texts with adult assistance.
4) The student consistently recognizes characteristics of multimodal and digital texts independently.
