Introduction

Welcome to the Literacy Achievement Academy, Grade 1 trainer resource.
The Literacy Achievement Academy, Grade 1, provides teachers with the knowledge of
- the grade 1 English language arts and reading TEKS and the ELPS;
- effective and systematic early reading instruction, including the components of phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension;
- early writing instruction; and
- differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including English language learners and students who are struggling with learning to read.
Activities include opportunities for teachers to practice research-based strategies and apply them to their reading instruction. Materials include example lessons, black-line masters, and instructional guidelines.
The following sections contain the materials you need for turn-around training. Please download the files you need to your computer prior to the scheduled training to prevent challenges with connectivity to the internet.
