Knowledge and Skills Statement
Composition: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking using multiple texts--writing process. The student uses the writing process recursively to compose multiple texts that are legible and uses appropriate conventions.

Have students use each of the following words in a sentence: its/it's, affect/effect, there/their/they're, and to/two/too. Have students review a peer’s work to determine whether each word was used correctly in the context of their sentences.
Further Explanation
Students should know how to spell commonly confused terms such as its/it's, affect/effect, there/their/they're, and to/two/too. Students should also be able to find misspellings in their own writing or someone else’s writing and correct those misspellings.
