Interactive Science Glossary
The Interactive Science Glossary is a resource that supports students who are learning the language of science. This resource includes written and spoken definitions and sentences in both Spanish and English. Students can even create, download, and print their own vocabulary cards.
Language Arts Resources
LAR utilizes many techniques to help students learn the content. This is done by breaking the concepts down into smaller/targeted concepts, utilizing color coding, charts, mnemonics, graphics, audio clips, easy-to-grasp written and/or auditory explanations that students can internalize with ease; font size for emphasis; practice quizzes for students to self-check for understanding; level quizzes that progress from surface knowledge --> to connecting several concepts --> to applying the content to practical examples.
These learning techniques are especially beneficial for students who are English Language Learners (ELL), Limited English Proficient (LEP), English As Second Language (ESL), Special Education (SPED), and/or Sect. 504 students.

Students will describe producer/consumer, predator/prey, and parasite/host relationships as they occur in food webs.

Students will identify how humans depend on ocean systems and explain how human activities such as runoff, artificial reefs, or use of resources have modified these systems.
Understand New Vocabulary Using Roots and Affixes
You will learn how to determine the meaning of grade-level academic English words derived from Latin, Greek, or other linguistic roots and affixes.
Developing the Concept of Slope
Given multiple representations of linear functions, the student will develop the concept of slope as a rate of change.
Generating Different Representations of Relationships
Given problems that include data, the student will generate different representations, such as a table, graph, equation, or verbal description.
Predicting, Finding, and Justifying Data from a Graph
Given data in the form of a graph, the student will use the graph to interpret solutions to problems.
Approximating the Value of Irrational Numbers
Given problem situations that include pictorial representations of irrational numbers, the student will find the approximate value of the irrational numbers.
Expressing Numbers in Scientific Notation
Given problem situations, the student will express numbers in scientific notation.
Determining if a Relationship is a Functional Relationship
The student is expected to gather and record data & use data sets to determine functional relationships between quantities.
Graphing Dilations, Reflections, and Translations
Given a coordinate plane, the student will graph dilations, reflections, and translations, and use those graphs to solve problems.
Understanding New Vocabulary within Context
You will learn how to find the meanings of words through analogy and other word relationships.
Graphing and Applying Coordinate Dilations
Given a coordinate plane or coordinate representations of a dilation, the student will graph dilations and use those graphs to solve problems.
